As far back as I can remember, my whole world has been centered around music. I regularly sat on the console in the control room at my dad’s studio and watched musicians come in and out all day. I didn’t know what was happening, but just enjoyed the energy and vibes surrounding me. Richie Havens had been an honorary part of my family since he recorded his album “Wishing Well” with my dad in the basement of my parents’ old house. Richie was one of the first people that ever held me as a baby.  Now, as I get older, I see how freakishly rare and abnormal those experiences were for anyone, especially a toddler, but that was my life and I’m forever grateful. I wrote this whole song in one night, sitting at a keyboard at 2a.m, in the corner of the basement with my pink mechanical pencil. I feel like “Woodstock Child” is one of those songs that is just a part of me. “The man with rings on all fingers” is Richie Havens, “Cheers to the girl born in 2005” is me, “Born into the world hearing the best of the best” is a line describing my early childhood. The song is centered on the legendary “Woodstock Festival” in 1969 but switches to my life   experiences throughout. It’s a celebration of music and history. Even though “Woodstock” happened way before I was born, the stories and people became a part of my life the day I was born whether I knew it or not. So, without further ado... Nice to meet you, I'm the Woodstock Child.
